I was going to write a film review of "HARRIET" (2019) and then realized that my born white privileged fingers only need to say, that in these times where the flames of tribal hatred are fanned and encouraged by the fearful desperate sickness that still lingers in our country (especially by SOME of our elected leaders) and world....THIS film is a 2 hours and 5 minutes dose of beauty (the story of the life of SUPERHERO Harriet Tubman) art (the writing, production, direction and stellar acting.....Cynthia Erivo needs NO lauding from me....she is quite possibly the best rising superstar we have)....if you have not seen it.....do your soul a favor and watch it. And more importantly, try to be a better human because of it to fight the fear and sickness around us.

Superhero movies are the "tentpole" that holds up the film business. The violence that they generate per frame of "film" (so rarely used anymore)....helps pay for the tiny pieces of soul like this film (17 million budget....which has made more than double that so far)....

We need "Superheros" in this world, perhaps more than ever, but the lesson of "Harriet" is that YOU are the "superhero" the world needs. To paraphrase Ben Franklin after signing the Declaration Of Independence when asked by someone what happened during the signing.....said "We have a Republic, if you can keep it!" YOU need to fight for the freedom that Harriet Tubman fought for.....if you can "keep it!" If YOU support the people who are dismantling all she fought for....like Ben Franklin gave up owning slaves and became an abolitionist, you still have time to change that. Seeing "Harriet" might open your heart. I hope so.
